Ding...your done!

Well today is my due date and this kid is still not here. I keep telling the baby, "it is so much nicer out here, we are all ready to meet you" but no response. I have a induction set up for tomorrow at 12noon, but unfortunately it can still get bumped because I am low man on the totem pole (voluntary induction). Hopefully there will be a baby in my arms in 36 to 48 hours.

I am so excited I just can't wait. I want to know what this baby is!! I want to give him/her the name we have picked for him/her. Soon Jennifer....soon...I hope!

It's hard to say for sure how big your baby will be, but the average newborn weighs about 7 1/2 pounds (a small pumpkin) and is about 20 inches long. Baby's skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap a bit if it's a snug fit through the birth canal during labor. This so-called "molding" is the reason your baby's noggin may look a little conehead-ish after birth. Rest assured — it's normal and temporary.

My 39 Week Appointment

So I went to the doctor on Thursday. I am still only dilated to 1. How can that be?? I am so ready for this kid to be out and we decided to set up an induction for January 15th at 12 noon. Of course, that all depends on the triage of the day. I will have not other appointments at the doctor's office. Hopefully the next blog will have information about me going into labor. Fingers crossed!!

39 weeks...so close!

So ready to have this baby

Okay, So I have been trying everything under the sun to get this labor going (Acupressure, Black Kohash, Raspberry Leaf Tea, Sex, etc.) Any suggestions out there? The baby has dropped dramatically and I think it will be soon, but not soon enough for me...

I am so ready to have this baby. I want to me him/her, and give them their name. I want to kiss their little nose. I want to see my feet again and not have to stop after doing something for 30 minutes because I am exhausted.

I will post when something more happens.

So Anxious

I am getting so anxious to meet my little bundle.

I don't remember being this exhausted with Brianne towards the end. Right now it is virtually impossible for me to do my regular activities without getting winded or needing to rest. It is really getting annoying, but at least I am almost to the end.

If I had to guess...we will meet this little one within 2 weeks.

Updates...

Of Course now I am going to the doctor every week and just counting the days until our little one joins us. Last week when I went to the OBGYN I was not softened or dilated at all.

This week I went on Christmas Eve and I was dilated to 1cm and softened!! I seem to remember with Brianne I progressed steadily until I gave birth, so I expect when I go back on New Years Eve that I will be at 2cm. If everything goes similar to last time I should have a baby within 2 weeks, which is what I am predicting. I am so ready to meet this little one. I am working overtime to make sure everything is ready for the arrival.

It is funny because everyone will tell me things like, "don't rush it is okay if it doesn't get done today" and then I say something like "yeah, but if I don't do it today it may not get done for weeks, now is the time when every day counts"

I will continue to keep you up to date on what is going on.

Week 36

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. Baby now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. Shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered the body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected the skin during the nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of the first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely baby's in a head-down position. But if not, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating baby from the outside of your belly.

I am getting anxious

Okay...so now that I am really close to my dues date, I am so anxious to meet my new little one. i am getting everything in order at my home and it reminds me how much I want to see this little one. I want to know what the baby is, so I can stop calling it, it. I want to give the baby a name (we have both boy and girl names picked already).

Check-up

I had a check-up today. It was the first check-up when they are going to check me for dilation etc. No news so far. I will be going back on Christmas Eve and will keep everyone posted on what is going on. We are getting close!!

35 Weeks!!

Week 34

The skin is also smoother than ever. The central nervous system is maturing and the lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies

December 4th Appointment

My appointment on Thursday went well. All is as it should be. The baby was facing head down and sounded great.

For the past week or so everyone (even people who don't notice things like that normally) I come in contact with feels they need to tell me the it looks like I dropped. Usually this isn't a concern of mine since with Brianne I would hear that every other day. The only concern I have now is that with Brianne, on the other days people would tell me how high she looked. Nobody has told me that about this one in a long time. I would not be at all surprised if this little one comes out early (early January). My only relief is that I am not feeling any contraction, but on the other hand, i didn't start felling contractions until about a week before I had Bree. I am feeling more less pressure on my lungs though. We'll see....

This baby is very active! Almost always moving around I love seeing my belly jump around...it is so neat!!

Week 33

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, baby'll gain a third to half of the birth weight during the next 7 weeks as baby fattens up for survival outside the womb. Baby now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). The skin is becoming soft and smooth as baby plumps up in preparation for birth.

November 20th appointment

Hi Everyone~

I went to the OBGYN on Thursday and all is just as it should be. The only random thing is that she gave me some antibiotics because I have been coughing up and blowing out yellow and green mucus for over a week now. It is getting better and I can't wait to be rid of this disgusting sick taste/smell in my mouth/nose.

I am getting very big and can't seem to remember that I can't do all the things I used to be able to. Simple things like bending over into the shopping basket to put things on the check out counter. I also need to remember to rest more. It is so hard to go from doing everything for yourself, then in a matter of months not be able to do that. I feel so helpless. My stomach sometimes sticks out so far in front (as it did with Brianne) that i can't even bend over to get the laundry out of the machine without it taking 30 minutes to unload because I have to do it from the side one piece at a time. Grrrrrr...I hate feeling helpless.

Week 31

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. Weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. Baby can turn the head from side to side, and arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath the skin. Baby's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

My Nov 6th Appt.

Hi Everyone!

I had an appointment on November 6th. Sorry it has taken so long to post about, my sister finally told me I hadn't done it.

I am going to my appointments every 2 weeks now and all is still good. They checked the position of the baby and they are keeping an eye on the fact the the baby is "butt down" right now. I told them that Brianne flipped and flopped until about week 34 or so then finally stayed head down. They said it was nothing to worry about, just something they wanted to make a note of and keep checking on.

I have also made a decision about the birth. Because I am so worried about getting to the hospital in time to receive my epidural (because Brianne's birth was so quick), I am going to ask to be induced on January 16th if I haven't gone into labor yet. I think it is the best plan for all involved.

I will post about my next appointment that is on November 20th sooner, I hope!
